Notes
Recipe Notes & Tips for Creamy Chicken Primavera
- Slice the chicken breasts into evenly sized pieces so they cook quickly and stay tender throughout the dish.
- Fresh vegetables give the best flavor and texture. Red bell peppers and mushrooms add sweetness and richness that pair perfectly with the creamy sauce.
- Mince the garlic fresh rather than using jarred garlic for a brighter, more flavorful sauce.
- Let the mushrooms cook until they release their moisture and begin to brown slightly for deeper flavor.
- Heavy whipping cream creates the richest and smoothest sauce. For a lighter version, you can substitute half-and-half, though the sauce will be thinner.
- Stir the cream sauce gently over medium-low heat to prevent curdling or separating.
- Fresh basil added at the end gives the dish a fresh, vibrant finish and balances the richness of the cream.
- If the sauce becomes too thick, add a splash of chicken broth, milk, or pasta water to loosen it up.
- This dish pairs wonderfully with fettuccine, penne pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread.
- Add freshly grated Parmesan cheese for extra flavor and a more restaurant-style finish.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat slowly over low heat to keep the cream sauce smooth.
- For extra vegetables, try adding spinach, broccoli, asparagus, zucchini, or cherry tomatoes.
